Balance HTML-Formatted Text and Graphics

Lots of keyword-rich text might get visitors to a site, but a site with too few graphic images may not communicate trust, credibility, and professionalism. At least, not enough to convert a visitor to a customer.

Striking a balance between HTML-formatted text and graphic images is key both to search engine visibility and conversions.

Your site needs to be written and designed using the words your target audience types into search engine queries.

Site design often has different functions: branding, direct sales, customer retention, trust, communication, and online visibility. A site must be persuasive enough to sell a product or service. Product photos must communicate the product’s look and feel. The site must be trustworthy. A search-friendly site is good for customers, search engines, and site owners.

More important than having the metatags in place is that the site should have some 'visible' body copy, particularly on the Home Page. That's because the emphasis on having visible well-written body copy containing the relevant keywords and phrases is now more important as the search engine spiders don't just rely on the HTML metatags to index a site.

By creating an indexable site structure and optimising more pages within the site will give you more opportunities to rank well for a broader range of relevant terms.

Website Images

Points to remember -

  • Search engines do not read images, so don't use all images on your website.
  • Alt tags can be added to images, use keywords relevant to your image and search engines will look favourably on this.
  • Keep the file size of all images as small as possible to minimize the loading time of your website.
  • Images are important on your website and its essential to strike a good balance between text and images.
